Where your bot's data comes from
A bot can only act on what it can read. Here is each feed it can use, where it comes from, and what it can't tell you.
Kalshi
| Data | Source | Know this |
| Prices, spread and volume | Kalshi's market data API and live order book | Paper mode reads the same public market data without a Kalshi key. |
| Live game scores | Kalshi's official live sports feed | Score rules work on one exact game. Stale or ambiguous data blocks the trade. |
| Time to close | Kalshi market close times | Counts down to a market's close, not to a game's end. |
Crypto
| Data | Source | Know this |
| Bitcoin and crypto spot | CoinGecko, with Coinbase as the fallback | Refreshed about every 15 seconds. Kalshi's 15-minute Bitcoin markets settle on CF Benchmarks, so a bot's spot price can differ from the settlement price. |
| Short-term volatility | Calculated from Coinbase 1-minute candles | Measures how much the price has moved. It doesn't predict direction. |
Sports
| Data | Source | Know this |
| Game events | ESPN | NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and World Cup play data, which can lag the live game. |
| Injury news | ESPN's injury reports, plus beat-writer RSS for named players | A bot acts when a report reaches the feed. The market may already have moved. |
| Player props | ESPN player stats | Compares a named player's stat with a Kalshi prop line. |
Weather and events
| Data | Source | Know this |
| Forecasts and conditions | National Weather Service | Kalshi's daily high-temperature markets settle on The Weather Company, so a forecast or reading here can differ from the settlement. |
| Severe weather alerts | National Weather Service | Watches for an exact alert type in a region. |
| Hurricanes | National Hurricane Center | Checks storm category in a basin. It doesn't forecast paths or landfall. |
| Earthquakes | USGS | Watches for a magnitude in a region. |
Markets and politics
| Data | Source | Know this |
| Stock and index prices | Public market quotes | Can be up to about two minutes old, so not suited to second-by-second rules. |
| SEC filings | SEC EDGAR | Spots a company's 8-K filing. It doesn't read the filing or judge what it means. |
| Earnings results | Public earnings data | EPS beat or miss only, not revenue or guidance. |
| Polling averages | US polling aggregates | Covers two configured averages, not individual races. |
What a bot can't read today
General news and keyword alerts aren't available, and neither are lineup reports or macro data releases. If you ask for a rule that needs one of these, the builder tells you instead of building something that can't run.
